Art lyrique et transferts culturels : réflexions méthodologiques
This article shows how the genre of opera—sometimes as an agent, sometimes as the object of a cultural transfer—is at the heart of new problems affecting the social sciences: it posits opera’s challenges as methodological difficulties. This makes it possible to replace the national history of opera, which has prevailed since the 19th century for various ideological reasons, with a transcultural history linked to the numerous translations of works and the widespread movement of scores and performers.
