The Conseil Supérieur de l’enseignement of the Conservatoire national de musique et de déclamation is an authority whose purposes are defined by the decree of 5 May 1896. It brings together, around the director of the Conservatoire, an assembly of teachers at the school, composers, playwrights and theatre critics, and representatives of the state and the national theatres, to discuss any issues relating to the teaching given within the school. This document is a transcription of the Council’s minutes, limited to meetings held under the direction of Gabriel Fauré, that is from October 1905 to May 1920. This transcription is completed in an appendix by a list of the members of the Council during the period in question, a thematic index and an index of the names cited.
